Caribbean connections — detailed guide

Part of Caribbean Jazz Expo

Your place in the programme

These briefs explain how each contribution can support CJE’s overall success. They are invitations to explore an agreed role, not automatic appointments or editorial grants.

Everyone is welcome to propose a contribution. Only a representative explicitly approved by the Merchant may control wording and imagery in an assigned CJE section. An enquiry, stakeholder role or expression of interest gives no editorial access. CJE retains publication control; permissions for official statements, brands and imagery still apply.

A regional programme becomes real through participating artists, reciprocal responsibilities and agreed outputs.

The invitation

Nominate suitable artists, introduce cultural and production partners, explore travel support or co-produce a collaborative project in Dominica. The programme welcomes distinct island, national, language and diaspora identities rather than treating the Caribbean as one interchangeable sound.

Possible contributions

  • Artist nomination and preparation through a transparent selection process.
  • Travel support or a named participant bursary with published eligibility.
  • A songwriter, instrumentalist, producer or studio exchange.
  • Regional media introductions, a reciprocal event opportunity or an agreed broadcast segment.
  • Accommodation, transport or production support with a written value and delivery specification.

Shared economics and shared credit

Agree who pays for travel, who contracts accommodation, which local suppliers deliver, how restricted support is used and what each party receives. Any sales or release share must follow an explicit rights and revenue agreement. A cultural contribution is not automatically an ownership interest in the programme or an artist’s work.

Representation and evidence

No official country representation, government endorsement, ministry logo or partner status is published without a mandate. The first collaboration should have a named owner, an achievable output, agreed credits, a release or presentation date and a review of results.
