Your place in the programme
These briefs explain how each contribution can support CJE’s overall success. They are invitations to explore an agreed role, not automatic appointments or editorial grants.
Everyone is welcome to propose a contribution. Only a representative explicitly approved by the Merchant may control wording and imagery in an assigned CJE section. An enquiry, stakeholder role or expression of interest gives no editorial access. CJE retains publication control; permissions for official statements, brands and imagery still apply.
Support local economic participation and Caribbean creative development without surrendering public-interest safeguards.
The proposition
A bounded Dominica-based pilot can connect visiting artists, local musicians, hospitality, production suppliers and international buyers. The public-value case is cultural enterprise and concrete creative output—not speculative claims of mass tourism or television reach.
What support could enable
- A clearly costed contribution to local production, artist development, accessible accommodation, transport or approved broadcast delivery.
- An agreed destination-content brief with appropriate filming permissions and accurate portrayal of Dominica.
- A pilot that creates opportunities for local musicians, studios, accommodation owners, drivers and technical crews.
- A professional introduction pathway to regional and international programmers, including WOMEX discussions.
Independence and accountability
- Government and festival institutions retain their procurement, funding, editorial and programming authority.
- Publish eligibility, artistic-review principles, conflicts of interest and the distinction between fees and selection.
- No political endorsement, official partnership logo or public funding claim before written approval.
- Define supplier selection, safeguarding, accessibility, participant terms and complaints handling before commitments.
- Separate commercial revenue, restricted support and beneficiary fundraising; report contributions and outcomes with proper evidence.
A measurable pilot rather than an inflated promise
Agree the pilot size after capacity and quotes are confirmed. Measure verified artist participation, accommodation room nights, local supplier spend, completed creative sessions, rights-cleared recordings, releases, professional follow-up and documented community transfers. Do not treat social impressions as tourism arrivals or promised return on public money.
The requested conversation
Review the Jazz ’n Dine pilot, identify an appropriate institutional liaison, agree what constitutes a credible artist-review package and decide whether a bounded support arrangement can proceed. The proposal creates no funding or endorsement obligation.
